The tour continues on a journey to visit the Sultan Abdul Samad building – which used to house the old railway station and high court – and the famous Dataran Merdeka – also known as Independence Square – where Malaysia proclaimed her official independence on 31 August 1957 by hoisting the National Flag. From this point on, it’s a short walk to Central Market, which showcases Malaysian handicrafts and artistic products; here you can purchase souvenirs to take home. The tour concludes with a trip to the ‘Sze Ya’ Temple, the oldest Taoist Temple in the city.
